
One of the most important symbols of World War II. The camp was created in the middle of 1940 as a part of a wide plan of liquidation the Jews. It is calculated that 1,1 – 1,5 people died there out of whom Jews and Poles were composing the largest number of killed. The Museum of Auschwitz was established in the middle of 1947 on the territory of the former camp. Since 1979 it has been on the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list.
